May 23, 2004Two FOs!Mist is done! Well, I cheated a little on the sleeves and haven't shortened them, but no one really seems to notice that they're folded under. It's a nice sweater, fairly light, actually, and nice to wear. I'm not as in love with it as I was with the pattern, but I think it will continue to grow on me. Gyrid
What I Did with My Friday Night "I'll just wind this two-pound hank of cotton and then knit the night away!" I thought. Uh huh. The hank had too large a diameter to fit on my swift, so I had to throw it across the back of two chairs. I could lead the yarn off the hank with my left hand and crank with my right hand. This is what it looked like after the first ball. About three hours later I'd wound four balls and tried to put the yarn on the swift. I could wind a little, and then I'd have to go over and untangle the hank or keep it from falling off. At 1am, a friend logged in and said hi, and I convinced him to come over and help me wind. In another hour we'd wound the last four balls. I now have 9 approximately-100-gram balls of beautiful red cotton floss. Five swatches later, I'm almost ready to cast on for my strappy Vogue tank. Maybe the last swatch will dry by morning and I'll be ready to start tomorrow. I'd like to wear it on my trip to San Francisco in a couple weeks. Think I can manage that? If you had the perserverance to ball all of that yarn AND rope a friend into helping you finish--you can definately finish the strappy tank! (maybe even by friday) Mist looks great. I didn't notice the sleeves flipped under and I can't wait to see a closer photo of gyrid. Posted by: Kathleen at May 24, 2004 10:24 AMand I meant perseverance....where have my 4th grade spelling champion abilities gone? Posted by: Kathleen at May 24, 2004 10:26 AMI'm so jealous! Finished Objects that you can wear and look GREAT in! :) Mist looks great - I really love the color. Congrats on finishing two sweaters. I'm also amazed at your dedication in getting that cotton floss wound off. Only four more skeins, right? Posted by: nancy at May 24, 2004 02:15 PMGood job winding the cotton floss. If you want to wind my skein, too, I won't mind! Mist looks great. Posted by: judy at May 25, 2004 11:28 AMMist looks great on you. I love the color- so rich and vibrant.
