Too Good to Be True?

In the Riverside phone book, there are two yarn stores. One is within two miles of us! And I discovered that the US1 dpns I brought are actually 2 size 1's and 3 size 2's. Oops.

But there's a yarn store! Maybe they carry Brittanys. Too good to be true? The phone number is disconnected. I can find it listed on a lot of websites, but I can't talk to them. There are three other shops (including a spinning/weaving store!) on the other side of town, but it might be hard to take the only vehicle to go shopping.

Well, we went to the grocery store by that yarn store this morning, so I thought I'd look around. Turns out they closed up shop two or three months ago. Rats! Guess I'll have to borrow the car at some point.

With my two US1's, I did start my Sockapal2za sock! I'm doing the Summer Garden Socks that my mom designed. These are some of my favorite socks! I knit and then grafted the cuff of the sock, but I'll need more needles to pick up for the leg. And now that I stretched it out, I see that it's too small! Guess it's time to rip and go to larger needles, at least for the cuff...

But here it is, before being ripped out, just so that there's a picture here.

That was written at least three days ago. I haven't had time to complete it. The days are full and tiring, and I became the expert on how many particles we're losing in our sampling lines, so every time we want to move an instrument (seems like daily now, sometimes twice) I'm asked for my opinion about how to adjust the flows for maximum benefit. This is kind of good, but also kind of a pain.

On Saturday I went with the other knitter here to hope to find the spinning store or another yarn store. The short story is that the ex-spinning store is about 10 miles away (in CA traffic), is now a Mailboxes Etc.-type place, and the building had had a big fire moderately recently. Strike two (the previous store being strike one). We headed back to go to a store that was closer to home, but got there and found out that they close at 4 on Saturdays. Strike three.

Thankfully, mom's sending me some essentials anyway (my pillow!), and she'll throw in a couple sets of dpns. Yay!

Sounds like you're at least having some adventures! Hard work is good for you- makes you appreciate the non-work times. At least that's what we tell ourselves when we're working so hard. I'm glad you're finding time to do some knitting, and yay for an awesome mom with lots of needles readily at hand :)

I sent your package today. I only put in 1 set of needles (size 1), so I hope that's right. Lost Particle expert sounds very important :)
